Interesting short sword with wooden scabbard, approx. 24” overall with an approx. 19” blade, grooved brass cast grip and cross guard with a dark patina overall showing scattered areas of erosion and casting imperfections but generally good overall. The scabbard as noted above, is wooden with iron tip and throat and in overall fair to good condition with several cracks in the wood body and a dark patina overall including the noted iron furniture. Lot accompanied by a notarized letter from the Antique Gun Shoppe dated April 13, 2000 indicating this to be a rare pattern Confederate Artillery short sword with original wooden scabbard. The letter further states that these swords were manufactured by E.J. Johnson of Macon, Georgia . Est.: $600-$1,200.
