Interesting percussion half stock plains rifle utilizing early Golden age barrel, patch box and butt plate. The barrel shows a remnant of a signature with the 1st letter being “V” and the last 3 letters “KER”. The patch box shows adistinctive finial with good quality engraving and a very nice faceted butt plate and toe plate from the earlier rifle also. The lock and stock appear to be about 1850 by style. The gun measures 44 ½” with the old barrel reduced to 30 ½” with tangadded at that time. Approximately .45 caliber rifled. The stock has been broken and shortened and the condition is fair overall with some repairs to the wood and minor pitting from frontier use. Est.: $350-$700
