Refer Great Gunmakers for the Early West Vol. II by James Gordon, from this author’s collection. The rifle measures 48” overall with 32-1/2” barrel of approx. .44 caliber rifled. The rifle shows a partridge-marked lock, converted from Flintlock to Percussion. Thegun is simply half stocked with pewter forend cap, brass mounts, brass patchbox with oval door, silver inlay in wrist, and star inlay on cheekpiece, possibly from the early Dickert rifle that the barrel was rescuedfrom. The rifle shows a dark brown to black patina, scattered rust and erosion, some pitting and normal aging, generally good overall. Action working. The signature on barrel is very legible. The stocks are goodto very good with several dings, mars, scratches. Shows good quality wood.
