Interesting clipped point Bowie knife stamped “G.S. Nichols” on left side of the 7-1/4” blade, 12-1/2” overall, simple filed brass type cross guard, hickory grips, circa mid to late 19th century, showing some filing and distinctly American-looking features. The blade shows some pitting and erosion but is generally good, about 30-40% of its original polish, there is a good patina on the grips and crossguard, and absolutely a period bowie knife showing a few nicks at the edges and honest use. Along with a hand-made single-stitched holster type scabbard in good very good condition with the name “A. D. Goodin” scratched in back with another word which is indistinguishable. Has a civil war look, possibly Southern. Est.: $1,250-$2,500.
