Interesting and rare mid 19th century prop Deringer simulating the infamous weapon used by John Wilkes Booth to assassinate Abraham Lincoln at Ford’s Theatre. The event was portrayed on stage shortly after andthroughout the 19th century. This Deringer prop was made by gun maker and shows a wood barrel, German silver mounts and accurate detail but barrel is wood and no lock. The prop measures 5-1/2” with 2-1/2” barrel. This oddity is featured and discussed in an article by Doug Eberhart noted derringer expert published in the “Monthly Bugle” which is the official publication of the Penn. Antique Gun Collector’s Association. Thecondition is very good plus to near fine and this is the only example known to collectors. Est.; $600-$1,200
