Interesting Walther KKW Bolt Action Training Rifle with U.S. GI Inscribed Stock

This Walther KKW rifle was a U.S. GI bring back that has a handsomely high relief carved stock celebrating the veteran's service record. The right side of the forearm is inscribed with the name of the U.S. officer: "CAPT. P.G. PETERS. U.S.A. ARMY". The left side of the forearm has the theater of operations Captain Peters served in: "AFRICA ITALY 1945 WORLD WAR II". A clamshell pattern is carved in the bolt handle cut-out and a swastika is carved on the right side of the grip area and a fasces on the left side. Standard German barrel and receiver markings with "eagle/N" proofs. The left side of the buttstock has a large N.S.K.K. eagle stamp (very faint) and the stock has a brown leather sling. Capt. Peters served in the military intelligence corps and was stationed in North Africa as the civilian labor superintendent for the Fort of Casablanca. He was fluent in Arabic and had knowledge of Italian. For his service, he received the Order of Ouissam Alaouite, the highest honor the sultan of Morocco could award. (Information obtained from two included newspaper clippings. A photo of Peters is also included.)
