Interesting “Kentucky” style revolving rifle made from 1860 Army Colt attributed to Ray Dunn, Newport, PA, Perry County. Serial #36944 on frame, triggerguard and cylinder. The barrel measures 34”, the rifle measures 50-1/2” overall. The rifle is full stocked in naturally striped walnut, shows a disk-type brass patchbox, brass buttplate, and classic PA/Kentucky styling. The octagon barrel is medium weight and is secured by a wedge using an extended arbor. The maker straightened the brass triggerguard and iron backstrap and added the Kentucky style stock. The gun shows a deep brown patina finish and is generally good overall with very good wood. The wood shows just some minor dings, mars, small losses, slight imperfections. A very practical and interesting American adaptation using leftover Civil War parts to create a practical revolving rifle. Interesting to Colt collector’s, revolving rifle collectors, and Americana collectors. Est: $2,500 -5000
