Interesting Colt SAA U.S. Artillery Model revolver, .45 cal., 5-1/2” barrel, frame # 7021 (Custer Range), trigger guard #115162, cylinder #430, backstrap not decipherable. The gun is in overall well-worn condition with considerablemoderate to heavy pitting and in some respects, may have been a dug up or spent years exposed to the elements as it appears to have been cleaned some time ago with a light grey patina returning to metal surfaces. The bore is rough, the actionis not working, the markings are partially visible and the grips have been replaced with old handmade wood grips; the butt strap screw is an old iron replacement. This Artillery should be further researched and really has the look of anold work horse that definitely did not just sit in some officer’s desk drawer in the safety of warm quarters.
