Interesting Civil War ear Bowie knife with blade fashioned from cotton gin, and crudely made brass, bent and sweated crossguard and brass rod hilt showing crude workmanship and brazing, possibly confederate. The knife measures 14-3/8” overall, approx. 8-1/2” blade. Blade measures approx. 1-3/8” at widest part. Blade shows calibrations and markings, and was obviously from a cutting device or piece of machinery such as a cotton gin. The blade shows a semi-spearpoint blade with crudely sharpened edge. The brass shows a good patina. Absolutely authentic to the 19th century in our opinion. Est: $500 - $1,000
