Inscribed underhammer pistol with barrel marked “N. Delany”, .38 cal., 7” octagon barrel, blue finish, wood grip with brass inlays of fish, an anchor, a sexton and a whale with the inscription “My work 1863 Jas. Fogg, Master. Whaler Martha Lee”. This gun is in overall good condition with traces of niter blue on the barrel that also displays engraving by the breech and at the muzzle; the action is good, the bore is very good, the wood grips are very good with the brass inlays showing a brown patina. A great identified maritime piece that deserves further research as to Master Fogg and the Whaler “Martha Lee”. Est.: $2,000-$4,000.
