Inscribed French-made for export mid 19th century pocketwatch. Dust cover marked “#450, Leroy, Paris”. Two keep holes marked “Hands” “Cylinder Escapement” in English, four holes jeweled indicating export to Englishspeaking countries such as America. Also movements is inscribed “Fast” and “Slow” in English. Movement is of good quality showing gold-plated interior and cover. The inside of the back cover is inscribed “General G. H.Thomas” “Military Districk” (spelled incorrectly), “Tennessee”. The outside back cover is nicely engraved with four panels which are inscribed in same script “Shiloh”/“Stone River” “Chika Mauga”“Nashville”. The watch face shows hand engraving and is good quality with its original thick crystal and shows a second hand, which is high quality for its day. History: G. H. Thomas was known as the Rockof Chika Mauga. Est: $7,500 - $15,000
