Inscribed Ernest Hemingway The Short Stories of Ernest Hemingway (New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1954), first printing, 499 pages, in black cloth boards in an un-price clipped jacket, 8vo (5.75" x 8.5"). This copy is inscribed on the front free endpaper "To Cucu with much affection Ernesto. New Year 1955". The book is in very good condition with slightly bumped corners. There is a small area of sun fading at the head and foot of the spine. The endpapers are lightly age toned. The jacket is in very good condition with only some age toning to the spine. The book comes enclosed in a custom made blue cloth box with gold embossed title on a leather label. The box is likewise in very good condition. The inscription to "Cucu" most likely refers to Dr. Cucu Kohly, one of the many acquaintances that Hemingway cultivated while living and writing in Spain. Of particular interest is the unique way Hemingway signed his name as "Ernesto".
