Condition: Very fine. The rifle retains 75% of the original finish overall. The barrel retains 95% blue and has some edge wear at the muzzle and handling wear on the receiver extension behind the hand guard. There is some thinning on the magazine near the takedown lever. The finish on the receiver is 70% intact and has moderate handling wear on the contact points on the upper and lower edges and upper tang. There is some scattered age spotting on the sides of the receiver. The case colors on the forearm cap and buttplate have faded to a silver-gray patina. The case colors on the bottom of the loading lever have a dark patina but the case colors on the side of the lever and hammer are bright. The rear sight base has been silver-soldered to the barrel dove-tail. The barrel and receiver markings are sharp. The bore is bright. The highly figured, fancy grain, walnut, stock and forearm are in fine condition with most of the original, high polish piano finish and sharp checkering. Wear is limited to some scattered, minor, handling marks and several minor dents in the stock comb. This is a very fineexample of a scarce Winchester Model 1886 Takedown Deluxe Sporting Rifle.
