Inscribed Colt Baby Dragoon percussion revolver, .31 cal., 5” octagon barrel, blue and case hardened finish, wood grips, #7215. This gun is in overall good to very good condition showing slight hints of muted blue on the barrel assembly and faint case color on the frame and hammer; the action is good, the bore fair and the markings are clean including matching serial numbers on all major parts including the wedge; much of the cylinder scene is visible and there are scattered old nicks and scratches on the cylinder and barrel from carry and storage; the grips are very good with some knackering on the butts. The back strap is hand inscribed “L. M. Hall 1-A”. A file accompanies this lot with information on Cpl. Levi M. Hall of the 1st Maryland Cavalry, Co. A indicating he was mustered into service on November 11, 1861 and mustered out on June 28, 1865. According to information from the American Civil War Research Database, the 1st MD. Cavalry had a distinguished record and presence at numerous battles including New Market, Virginia; Winchester, Virginia; Antietam, Maryland and Loudon Heights, Virginia. Est.: $7,500-$8,500.
