Inscribed 14 kt. Gold Howard pocket watch contained in a factory Howard rosewood case in overall excellent condition; inscription is on the inside cover and states “Presented by members of Machine Gun Troop 5th U.S.Cav’y Dec. 25, 1917”; also included is a seal from W.T. Hixson Co., Jewelers, El Paso, Texas, the likely sales point of the presentation watch and where the inscription was made; the watch is 17 jeweled and theback exterior is engraved with what appears to be the initials “TVC”; face is in excellent condition; mechanism is working at time of description; case is in fine condition. The 5th U.S. Cavalry was assigned duty on the Mexican Border at the time of Pancho Villa and the disturbances created during the Mexican Revolution. Further research may reveal the recipient of this expensive memento and the occasion of thepresentation. Est.: $750-$1,500.
