(New York: Doubleday, Doran & Company, Inc., 1931), stated first edition, 313 pages, 8vo (5.75" x 8.5"), brown cloth, no dust jacket. Inscribed and signed by Dalton on the half title page "<I>To Mr. Francis G. Vater With Sincere best wishes Emmett Dalton May 8, 1931</B></I>". Emmett Dalton (1871 - 1937) was the youngest brother of the infamous Dalton Gang. Dalton's bank robbing career ended on October 5, 1892 in Coffeyville, Kansas when the gang tried to rob two banks at once. Four members of the gang were killed and Emmett was severely wounded. He was sentenced to life in prison but was pardoned after 14 years. He moved to California and became a real estate agent, actor and author. Front hinge completely broken, else very good condition, with slightly bumped corners and slightly age-toned spine.
