Signed book: The Magic Lantern: An Autobiography. First American edition. NY: Viking Press, 1988. Hardcover with dust jacket, 6.5 x 9.5, 308 pages. Signed neatly in Swedish on the first free end page in blue ballpoint by Ingmar Bergman. In fine condition. Bergman's influence in the film industry cannot be overstated: he won back-to-back Oscars for Best Foreign Language Film in 1960 and 1961 for The Virgin Spring and Through a Glass Darkly, and was nominated thrice for the Best Director Academy Award for Cries and Whispers, Face to Face, and Fanny and Alexander, the latter also winning the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar in 1983. His 1957 historical fantasy The Seventh Seal is also considered a classic of world cinema, as well as one of the greatest movies of all time. The first signed copy of Bergman's critically acclaimed autobiography that we have offered—other examples are virtually nonexistent.
