This Indian Wars Springfield Carbine Rifle is from the Indian Wars. The rifle is dated 1873 with Serial Number 2225814, U.S. Army. It is a 45/70 and the cartridges for this rifle carried 55 grains of powder. There is rust and the fore grip ring is missing as well as thumb grip on hammer is broken off. Overall measurements is 40 by 2 1/2 inches. Shipping $50.00
Note: Custer's Last Stand was June 25-26, 1876. Custer and his men would have used this type of rifle. It is unknown whether this rifle in particular was used at the Battle of Little Bighorn, however it remains a possibility.
