Indian Woman Photogravure By Rodman Wanamaker 1913
Included in this lot we have a original Indian woman framed photogravure by Rodman Wanamaker circa 1913. Rodman Wanamaker (February 13, 1863 – March 9, 1928) began an expedition to capture the life of the "Vanishing Race" which resulted in the publishing of his "Expedition of Citizenship." This book is a very rare piece and took place in 1913. For it, the American flag was carried to many tribes, and their members were invited to sign a declaration of allegiance to the United States. The photo displays a Native American Indian woman in an ornate and heavily beaded dress as she sits for the photo. The piece shows a the brown and white coloration of a photogravure photo. The portrait is marked across the bottom reading "By Rodman Wanamaker 1913 - An Indian Woman's Dress Mrs. Wolf Plume". The photo is set into a red wooden frame with a dark blue border around the photo. The piece shows good condition overall with some light wear across the frame. The frame measures 9 1/8" wide by 11 1/8" tall with the photo measuring 4 1/4" wide by 6 1/2" tall.
