The Dine also came along side the Ansazi and lived in the local area. They called this area This ts'ooz nideeshgiizh because of the greasewood and cottonwood which grew in the back canyons. In more contemporary times, a man from Idaho came and became the first Superintendent for the new Easten Navajo Agency. Samuel F. Stacher established the new government agency and the new Pueblo Bonito Boarding School in 1910.
