Mysore Kingdom, Tipu Sultan (AM 1215-1224/1782-1799 AD), Othmani or Mushtari/ Double Paisa, 20.80
grms, AM (122)2, Minted at Pattan (Seringapatan), Obverse: A majestic elephant striding proudly to the
right with an upraised trunk, symbolizing royal strength and authority. Above the elephant is the Persian
inscription "Mauludi", notably rendered with a long 'Ye' — a rare variety mentioned by Henderson in his work,
though only illustrated as a line drawing. A flag bearing a star is prominently displayed within a rectangular
frame above the inscription, adding a touch of regal symbolism. A partial dotted border is faintly visible
along the rim, Reverse: Features the inscription "Mushtari Zarb Pattan" in the upper line, indicating the mint
at Patan and the planetary association with Jupiter (Mushtari). The lower line bears the proud designation
"Dar-ul-Sultan", identifying Patan as the royal capital or seat of sovereignty. Very Fine+, Very Rare.
