High relief striking, Extremely fine, Extremely rare.

Tipu Sultan rupees are always struck with coarse milling and have a unique pattern. It is possible that Tipu Sultan's French artisans originated oblique milling style. Tipu Sultan experimented with oblique milling in the later part of 1219 AM (1791 AD). In 1220 AM, the old method of coarse milling was revived. This experiment short lived as coins of no other date have this feature.

The Oblique Milling Rupee was only struck for one year.
