Silver Rupee, 11.31g, Pseudo Mint name Arkat but may struck some were in South Maharashtra / North Karnataka region, in the name of Shah Alam II, Trident as a mint mark (Not listed in Wiggins). Very fine, extremely rare.Rupees of this type were attributed to Danish India"- Tranquebar on the basis of the AH/RY combination by Uno Jensen. However, their find-spots are invariably located in the South Maharashtra / North Karnataka region, where the 'Arcot' rupees had been popular as standard currency and even inspired issues of Maratha mints such as Dharwad. There is a good chance that these coins were struck at one of the local mints in the region, most likely controlled by the Patwardhan Sardars.
