Maratha Confederacy, silver nazarana rupee, Ahmadabad mint, in the name of Muhammad Akbar II, RY 8, M&W T5, 11.48g, 29.22mm.

Extremely fine, Extremely rare.

The coins with dual mint-mark - an elephant goad or 'Ankush' and a spectacle or 'Nagphani' were struck under the governorship of Trimbakji Dengley, a confidante of Peshwa Bajirao II. Prior to his appointment at Ahmedabad, Trimbakji is known to have farmed the mint producing 'Hali Sicca' rupees with the 'Nagphani' mark at Pune. He appears to have carried the symbol with him to Ahmedabad.
