Incredible Advertising Piece for Campaign Goods One of the Nicest Advertising Pieces for Political C
One of the Nicest Advertising Pieces for Political Campaign Goods Which We Have Ever Seen. This blank-backed item is best considered a small poster, measuring 9.5" x 13.5". It advertises the mammoth openwork net street banners that played such a role in the political campaigns of the 1880-1912 period. It is clear from the number and variety of advertising and promotional materials and from the period photos showing these banners stretching across streets that they were in very wide use. Yet, barely a century later, hardly any of the actual banners have survived; in 30+ years in the field, we have seen or heard of precisely two! Undoubtedly their mammoth size (10x15 to 30x40 feet) made them impractical to store after they had served their campaign purpose.

This brightly colored display piece shows an 1884 Cleveland & Hendricks banner and a classic political torchlight parade, so popular in that era. Depicted are uniformed members of a political marching unit as well as various styles of pole-carried torches in use. Just a marvelous piece of political history, in excellent condition!
