Diameter 5 1/2 in.

This rather thick-walled wooden qero has an elegant, inward-curving rim, around which is a broad band of incised traditional motifs inlaid in color. The most visible of these is a winged insect seen from above, with yellow antennae, orange triangular upper wings, and yellow triangular lower. Alternating with these are angled snakes with heads toward the rim and profile facing pairs of yellow-spotted dark felines. The condition is generally good, with two large cracks. One starts at the rim and a contiguous loss area partially obscures a cat. The other crack runs upward from the bottom.

Provenance
David Bernstein, New York
