<p>Auctions By the Bay's Inaugural Fine Art and Sculpture sale will include some truly exceptional American and California masterpieces. A recently discovered work by Hudson River School painter George Inness, NA, will highlight the sale. Entitled Summer Afternoon, circa 1855-56, this piece depicts picnickers in a wooded landscape, along a mirrored lake with stone bridge.
<p>We will also be offering a music cabinet with painted panels by Arthur Frank Mathews depicting the Allegory of Music. A Charles Christian Nahl orientalist painting Standing Lion, dated. 1876 with be offered as well as Albertus Del Orient Browere’s painting of a charming young boy day dreaming by a stream. Other American and California painters include: Granville Redmond, Colin Campbell Cooper, Bruce Nelson and Gusippe Cadenasso.
<p>Kicking off the sale will be a selection of European paintings, including works by Antoine Blanchard, Jules Herve, Jules Le Page, and Charles Amable Lenoir. We are representing a selection of contemporary paintings including works by Claire Falkenstein and Ron Nagle, as well as a collection of Asian American works from the Michael Brown collection in San Francisco.
