Important original New Mexico historical documents including a typewritten directive from the Third Judicial District Court of the Territory of New Mexico to the Sheriff of Dona Ana County, dated Sept. 11, 1900, signed in ink by the Court Clerkand Deputy of Supreme Court Associate Justice Frank W. Parker and bearing the imprinted seal of the court, directing the Sheriff to notify 17 specific individuals to appear at the Courthouse in Las Cruces on the first Monday of October,1900, at 10 o’clock to serve as Grand Jurors; along with an original hand written letter from the Sheriff, certifying that “on the 12th Day of September A.D. 1900 and duly executed by me by then and there summonsing the following namedpersons to serve as Grand Jurors a the October term . . . (16 of the 17 named individuals listed including cities in the County where they were found) . . . I further certify that I was not able to find the within named Simon Alvarezwithin the limits of my County.”. The letter is signed “P. F. Garrett, Sheriff”.
