Important historic Marlin Victor Model single shot derringer with documentation to Brigham Young; .38 cal., 2-3/4” barrel, blue finish, brass frame, wood grips, 13739. This gun is in overall fine condition showing approx. 95% original blue on the barrel and a taffy-colored patina on the brass frame, excellent grips with some slight loss to finish, fine bore, action and markings. Accompanying this Marlin is a framednotarized affidavit signed by Gwen Young Wilcox dated October 6, 1977, indicating the following in part: “In 1966 I bought a number of early Utah artifacts from Edith Wooley Thomas who wasthe daughter of Bishop Edwin Wooley. Bishop Wooley was a very close friend to Brigham Young and a number of items I bought from Edith were given to her father by President Young. Included with these artifacts was aderringer, Serial No. 13739 and marked J.M. Marlin, New Haven, Conn, Pat. April 8, 1870, with the name Victor stamped on the barrel.
