Important documentary and pictorial record of the Rochester Ordinance District, compiled by District Chief, Colonel Frank J. Atwood including an oversized 14”x 12” notebook with approx. 85 original WW II period photos of Colonel Atwood with various military and civilian dignitaries involved in the war effort and many photos showing famous weapons manufactured for the services including the M2 .50 caliber Browning Machine Gun; the M-7 tank built by the American Locomotive Company for use in North Africa; National Postal Meter Co. photos of M-1 carbine production; ceremony of Savage Arms Company’s production of the one millionth sub-machine gun production (including photo of production line with rows of Savage sub-machine guns; photos of an Ordinance display of tanks and weaponry at the Washington Park in Rochester, New York; photos of the final 155 mm M2 gun and carriage produced at the American Locomotive Co. plant and acceptance of the one millionth Springfield Model 1903-A3 at Remington Arms Co. Also included is a copy of two exploded views of the Colt Model M .32 and .380 semi-auto pistol in old shipping tube and a wood display block with brass plaque stating “300,000th .45 cal. Automatic pistol produced by the Ithaca Gun Company presented to Col. F.J. Atwood Chief of the Rochester Ordinance District May 19, 1945” (pistol not included).
