Important South Dakota Colt SA .45 cal. SN 133507 revolver and holster having belonged to early pioneer rancher Henry Lange with his diamond "I" brand on left grip. Born 1861 in Ohio Henry Lange "Sauer Kraut" started in the business at Imlay SD near Pine Ridge in 1888 witnessing the events of the Wounded Knee Massacre, married Annie Rourke 1/4 Ogaloa of Kyle SD and descendant of Red Cloud 1896, sold out to Corb Morse that same year to return to Iowa but come back to SD almost immediately. Settled near Imlay and had 12 children, purchased the old Duhamel Ranch from early range cattleman Narceese Narcelle, now where the Rapid City Cement Plant sits and much of Northwest Rapid City. At peak Henry Lange owned 8000-9000 acres and during his lifetime witnessed wild Indians, open range, the last roundup, statehood, the advent of automobiles and airplanes and two world wars, passing away in 1942, buried at Mountain View Cemetery. His gun, this Colt, remains in very good condition, barrel shortened to artillery 5 1/2", 25-35% blue remaining on barrel and ejector, traces of muted case color on frame,
