An important drawing in ink and colors on paper, 21"W x 42"L, mounted as a hanging scroll ( kakemono ) with blue brocade, representing the lord ( Daimio ) of Kai with his 23 principal retainers, Kano school, 1st half of 17th century, ( early Tokugawa period ), unsigned. Attributed to Kano Tanyu and said to be one of 24 distributed to the personages shown, in memory of a famous victory.The scroll weight appears to be a solid bar of ivory measuring 30"Long x 1"Thick, mounted in a bamboo carved dark wood frame with plate glass,and vevet matting.Overall size 82"H x 35"W, weighs appr.75Lbs.
