Two related items endorsed by Washington are included.</B></I> <BR><BR>The memorial piece of the archive reads in part: "At a Council held Nov. 6th 1772 The Memorial of Col. George Washington in behalf of himself and others of the Officers and Soldiers, who were to Share the 200,000 acres of land promised by Proclamation issued by the then Lieut. Gov. Robt. Dinwiddie Esq. was this day laid before the Board & considered; whereby i t appears that of the twenty surveys allowed by a former order of the Board, thirteen have been compleated by the several persons there mentioned; whereupon it was ordered, that the following Patents Issued, viz To George Muse, Andrew Lewis, Adam Stephen,...To Col. George Mercer...To Col. George Washington, one Patent for Ten thousand nine hundred and ninety acres; another for Four thousand three hundred and ninety five acres; another for two thousand four hundred and fourteen acres; Being for his own Share of 15,000 acres, & in part of his purchases of 5,000 acres from George Muse, & of 600 from Sergeant Brickner...". Another piece of the archive is the autographed endorsed document of an Order of Council of the Colony of Virginia held December 16 1773 at Williamsburgh relative to petitions and counter petitions of veterans of the French and Indian War respecting lands granted them in recognition of their services. The last piece of this archive is another autographed endorsed document, an Order of Council of the Colony of Virginia relative to the petition of Col. George Washington on behalf of himself and his companions-in-arms in the French and Indian War for a grant of 200,000 acres of land in recognition of their services, dated December 15 1769. The writing, especially on the endorsements, is clear and dark. Some tape stains, otherwise superb.
