<Our item number 93579><B>Important Early Numismatic Book: Thesauri Electoralis Brandenburgici Continuatio: sive Numismatum Romanorum.</B> By BEGERO, LAURENTIO; undated, c.1697, printed by Michael Rudiger, Berlin. A large folio work detailing the Roman coins in the collection of the Electors of Brandenburg. Introduction, pages 525-870 plus a large index. With many hundreds of wood-cut illustrations of coins as well as elaborate illustrations of buildings, etc., and allegorical scenes, including a magnificent frontisepiece featuring the a crowned figure &#40;Julius Caesar?&#41; surrounded by personifications of death, time, etc. and being crowned with laurel-wreath by Victory. <BR><BR>Bound together with another installment volume again by BEGERO: <B>Thesauri Regii at Electoralis Brandenburgici Volumen Tertium.</B>; 1701. Large illustrated folio like preceding, and including as well Greek antiquities. With indices, plus 472 pages of text, numerous text illustrations and wonderful full page plates. <BR><BR>Com plete in large folio, full-leather original binding; the interior contents fine and clean. This volume looks to be rebacked in the 18th or early 19th century, using the original covers; with attractive marbled end pages. Corners heavily rubbed, binding a little shakey, but overall sound. The Bookplate that of the ANS, and appears to have been de-accessioned in 1966.<BR><BR><I>These among a set of volumes by Bergero dedicated to Frederick I of Prussia, father of Frederick the Great.
