Undeniably one of the earliest and most important Bohlin filigreed buckles extant, this Pat No. 156 is pictured and described in the very first (1927) Bohlin catalog as The Masterpiece – very massive. The last word in an elaborate belt trimming. Made on very heavy sterling, overlaid with solid gold except for the quarter-inch silver border. Six flowers and steer eyes set with ruby stones...Particularly suitable for rodeo contest prize and horse show events. Price at a whopping $100 and measuring 3” x 31/4”. The belt was made by Jedlicka of Santa Barbara and belonged to Maxine Firfires – the mother of the consignor and daughter of Buck and Del Jones.
