An outstanding Bronze entitled “Sioux Chief” by Karl Kauba will be among the stars of the February 16th Auction at the San Rafael Auction Gallery. Measuring 21” overall, the 16” tall bronze is set a top a 5” onyx base. Bidders are also sure to take notice of an early Tiffany Studios double student lamp with two 10” Pine needle overlay shades. The impressive lamp measures 29” tall.
The sale will also offer a great selection of furniture is a variety of styles and periods. For those looking for a dramatic statement for their dining room, the sale will feature a twelve piece highly carved R. J. Horner set. The suite includes a table with 6 leaves, sideboard, china cabinet, server and eight chairs. For a subtler statement, the auction will offer a number of dining tables, sideboards and chairs in oak, walnut and mahogany, most in traditional styles. Bidders will also find a great selection of Victorian pieces including a leather topped kidney shaped writing desk and a sofa table from the mid 19th century. A selection of French pieces along with American, English and Continental furniture will be in abundance during the one-day sale.
From a 16 inch bronze of the “Group of the Farnese Bull” and a 35 ¾ inch seven light bronze candelabra with figural pan base, to a Tiffany Studios grape pattern letter holder and a large selection of sterling silver serving pieces, the sale will offer buyers lots of diversity. The exceptional selection of lighting, including lamps, wall sconces and chandeliers will provide plenty of sparkle during the auction.

The selection of Fine Art includes works by listed artist from America and Europe. Among the works of California artists being feature in the sale is a Nels Hagerup oil on canvas of a beach and boat scene which measures 2’ x 3’ and a Curtis landscape, oil on canvas, which measures 25 ½ x 19 ½. Continental pieces include an Italian School oil on canvas of the Madonna & Child and a classical scene, also oil on canvas signed by Alfieri.
