<td width="100%">
It is our pleasure to offer an incredible plate that was originally made by Sevres in France and then imported into Russia and subsequently remarked to represent the reigning Emperor, Paul 1 of Russia.This was in the period 1796-1801.

This fact was verified by the prior owner who had consulted A la Veille Russie in New York.

To the rear of the plate is the cipher of the Tsar Paul 1, Catherine the Great's son.

The plate is heavily embossed in gold on cobalt blue. The gold is raised and is probably "honey" gold.

To the centre of the plate is a handpainted masterpiece of the Battle of Laufeld.
This was a battle fought by the French in 1748 Louis, successful wherever he was present in person with Marshal Saxe, but nowhere else, continued vain efforts to obtain peace, frustrated by the animosity of Austria and England, which now brought into the field a new ally, the Tsarina Elizabeth. Bent on seizing Maestricht, Marshal Saxe won the battle of Laufeld, but it was not sufficiently decisive. Bergen-op-Zoom, however, was captured by a surprise attack. In April 1748 the French forces concentrated on Maestricht.

In really wonderful condition.
