<td width="100%">
This is a magnificent Russian travelling clock purchased by a diplomat while assigned in Moscow during the 1970s.

The shop provided the diplomat with a guarantee of authenticity that has since been misplaced indicating that the clock had been owned by a distinguished member of the Imperial Russian Court.

To the top of the leather case is mounted the Russian Imperial Eagle with the crests of the dutchies and the Empire. The case itself is a little worse for war having lost its handle and some of the reddish brown leather is worrn.

The clock's mechanism was cleaned two years ago by one of the best watchmakers in Ontario. He completely disassembled the clock and cleaned it, at an enormous cost. Having done this, he indicated that although he did not find a maker's mark, his educated guess taht the clock was made by a top rated workmaster in France in the 19th century. He suggested that the maker could be Breguet.

It is a gorgeous piece for the true collector.
