Imperial German Hunting Cutlass Dagger, with small skinning knife. The 16.5'' blade is nickel plated with an etched scene of floral designs, trees, hunting dog, stag and doe, and hunting equipment motifs. o maker's mark on the blade. Hilt has a clamshell guard and hoof-shaped quillion, with a ''D''-shaped knuckle guard. Handle fittings are gold-gilded brass. Grip panels are ivory with three small oval brass decorations. Scabbard is black leather with gold-gilded brass fittings at top and bottom. There is a pouch in the scabbard for the small skinning knife. The small knife has a 4'' etched decorated blade with a stag and doe, and ivory grip panels with one small oval brass decoration. Condition is very good, showing age and fading to the gold-gilded finish on the handle and scabbard fittings. Blade is bright and the etched decorations are clear. There are some runner marks near the tip, some light pinprick rust spots on the center panel on the reverse, and some light rust near the ricasso on the rear. Grip panels are very nice, just a little dirty. Scabbard has losses to the black finish, with scuffs and scratches overall. Stitching at the rear is coming loose at one spot about an inch long, but the seam is still tight. Scabbard fittings show age and fading to the gilt finish. Small knife has a bright blade showing just a little age, and grip panels are good but need a little cleaning. OAL is 21-3/4''. Est.: $800-$1,200.
