This is an excellent, very attractive example of an early WWI 1914 dated Imperial German Luger. This was the standard WWI German Luger used throughout the war that set the standard for all future production. The top of the chamber is dated 1914 and the front toggle is marked "DWM". The right side of the barrel extension has the three crown over Gothic letter proofs next to the Imperial eagle proof, which is also stamped on the rear of the barrel and left side of the breechblock. This example was manufactured in the early "b" suffix block so it went through 4 years of use during WWI. It is numbered in the military fashion full serial number (3037) on the frame, barrel extension and underside of the barrel with the last two digits (37) of the serial number on the smaller parts. With the safety area and extractor is correctly marked "GESICHERT and GELADEN" and it has the standard fixed sights. It is fitted with an original WWI nickel plated magazine with wooden base that is marked "2728/a".
