This two-handled open sugar bowl was made by Imperial Glass in the 1930s. It is in the Pansy pattern in the iridescent Marigold color.
It has wood grain handles and measures 3 1/2 inches high, 3 1/2 inches in diameter across the top, and has a 2-inch base. It is 6 1/4 inches wide from handle to handle.<p>

The Pansy pattern shows pansies on the sides and a smooth serrated rim within a scalloped edge. The bottom of the base is imprinted with a sunray pattern.<p>

This one is in excellent condition!<p>

(For a bit of history: Edward Muhleman established Imperial Glass Company in 1901 in Bellaire, Ohio. It continued in production, with a brief hiatus, until 1984. Imperial is known for its glass lines, including carnival glass beginning early in the 20th century, art glass by the 1920s (Jewels in 1916 and Free Hand Ware in the 1920s), and lines such as Candlewick by the 1930s. Early Imperial Glass included clear pressed glass for table use including glasses, compotes, bowls, and accessories geared toward the middle class household, a trend it continued throughout most of its existence.<p>

Imperial began producing Carnival glass in 1909. Carnival glass is pressed glass with an iridized surface created from heated metallic oxides, which form a lustrous coating on the surface of the glass.
