Central figure of modern philosophy (1724–1804) best known for The Critique of Pure Reason. Extremely rare ALS in German, signed “I. Kant,” one page, 7.5 x 7.75, December 20, 1799. Letter to his friend and pupil Johann Gottfried Kiesewetter, in part (translated): "Your well-informed message to me of the dispatch of the Teltow turnips was received with the greatest thanks. They have not arrived yet; presumably because of the path ruined by the frost, but I look forward to this gift on a daily basis." In fine condition, with trimmed edges and a light stain at the bottom. Kant's letters are exceedingly rare, this being the first we have offered.
