Illustrations of The Trial by Franz kafka, by Maryan (Pinchas Burstein), Characteres Publishing, first limited edition, Paris, 1953. We have before us a portfolio containing 10 lithograph prints drawn by Maryan (Pinchas Burstein), a Polish-born Jewish expressionist artist who survived the Auschwitz concentration camp during World War II. In these ten prominent lithographs, the artist brilliantly conveys the threat and humor behind Kafka's unique master work. The ten lithographic prints depict the following: - The court - Leni - the first judge - the jury - the prosecutor - the female judge - the observer - the second judge - the verdict. The album is from a first edition of 110 numbered and signed copies. This copy is No. 87. The prints are in very good condition, come with the original dust jacket. The portfolio: the back of the cover is damaged at both ends, foxing. Portfolio dimensions: 32.5X26 cm.
