c1860 This is a lot of 28 illustrated letterhead letters that were written between 1862 and 1911. Samples include a 1863 letter from a soldier from New Orleans to a friend he has just discovered, was also in the military. At finding this out, he writes “misery loves company.” This letterhead is from the 2d Battalion 117th Reg’t New York State Volunteers. Another with the letterhead “Union Now and Forever.” Is from a soldier named James, who is stationed at a “camp near Yorktown, Virginia.” There is also a letter from a brother stationed on a battleship during the Spanish American War, to his sister. There are several examples from various hotels and merchants. These are a real slice of history and will enhance any letter collection. Lynn Langdon Collection - HKA#65514
