Bohemian composer and piano virtuoso (1794-1870), whose career after his early years was based initially in London, and later at Leipzig, where he succeeded his friend and sometime pupil Felix Mendelssohn as head of the Conservatoire. ALS signed “I. Moscheles,” one page, 4.57 x 7.25, May 31, 1844. Letter to a friend. In part: “I shall be happy to see you tomorrow at my morning concert…Being short of tickets I send you none, but your name will be at the door.” In fine condition, with a bit of scattered light toning and soiling. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
