Half Plate Tintype Photo. Identified on the back "Taken at Santa Cruze Camp Stoneman August 1885" A temporary camp site located at Santa Cruz, California and named for Governor and Civil War General George Stoneman. It was also known simply as the Camp at Santa Cruz. It was used for training the 1st Infantry Regiment, National Guard of California in the summer of 1885. Based on the time and place, these gentleman seem to be a part of the California National Guard. The gentleman on the right is 1st Infantry Company O The gentleman on the left is 6th Infantry Company A. He is also sporting a police badge. Photo measures 3 1/2" by 5".
