Former British intelligence officer (1908–1964) whose novels featuring suave spy James Bond have attained unprecedented and seemingly indestructible popularity in more than twenty film adaptations over the course of four decades. Hardcover guest book, 7.25 x 9.25, dating from 1936-1980, for locations called Summerfold and Send Grove. The book is signed by Fleming, in fountain pen 24 times and in blue ballpoint twice, on the lightly lined pages, spanning the years 1938-1951. Light toning to pages, mild show-through from signatures on reverse, an ink blot to end of one signature, and light wear and surface loss to covers, otherwise fine condition.

In addition to Ian Fleming’s unprecedented 26 signatures in this guest book, it also contains signatures of other famous personalities including: The Queen Mother, Noel Coward, and Cecil Beaton, each signing multiple times. This guest book belonged to Loelia Ponsonby, wife of the second Duke of Westminster, who was Fleming’s inspiration for James Bond secretary Miss Moneypenny. RRAuction COA.
