IVES CLOCKWORK FIREHOUSE WITH PUMPER.
An architecturally correct rendition of a 1880s style firehouse found in every northeastern town. The cast iron brick facade with "Fire Engine House" embossed over the front doors and a second floor with simulated arch windows is encased upon a wooden box like structure, which also features four arched windows on either side and cast iron simulated roof trim on either side. When the clockwork mechanism is wound and activated, a bell rings and suddenly the spring loaded front doors pop open and the horse drawn pumper rolls down the incline within and the pumper speeds off to the neighborhood fire. The iron castings have original japanning and front doors are a dark green with gilt trim. Other castings are also japanned and wood retains original natural wood finish. Firehouse itself is complete and in working order and stamped on wood at rear "Patented June 28, 1891". Includes pumper that does not fit inside firehouse, but when situated next to the firehouse, it appears to be appropriate. SIZE: Both pieces are 15" l. CONDITION: Firehouse as described above, newer spring on left front door. Pumper is good to very good with some older gold enhancement. 1-12939
