This original 1961 lithograph print by Irving Marantz (1912-1972) is entitled "Two Clowns". Signed "Marantz" and dated "61" in the lower right corner. The edition included fifty numbered prints, and this particular print is a proof with the term "Proof Print" written in the lower left corner. Frame measures 29" by 29" by 1" and the portion of the print visible measures 15" by 20.5". This work resides in an old glazed frame under matte and we have not examined the print outside its frame. This print is being sold "as is" within the frame and we will not disassemble the frame for shipment.

Marantz studied at the Art Students League and taught at the Brooklyn Museum Art School and New York University. He exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, Museum of Modern Art in New York and elsewhere. His most notable New York area sculpture is likely "Triad", a large bronze reworking of "Three Muscician" by Pablo Picasso that resides on the plaza at 475 Park Avenue South in Manhattan. His works are found in the collections of the Guggenheim, Museum of Modern Art, Denver Art Museum, and elsewhere. His personal papers (1936-1972) are held by the Smithsonian Archives of American Art in Washington DC.
