PARLOR RIFLE. Cal. 7mm. NSN. Bbl. 17 1/2". Faucet action breechloading parlor rifle produced by an unknown mfg. in Europe. The action is cycled via the lever on the right side, which rotates the breechblock 90 degrees for loading, which when returned to the closed position places the cartridge inline with the bbl. Trigger guard features light scrollwork on the rear tang and bow, with a foliate finial. Additional scrollwork is found on the top flat of the faceted breech. Breech and buttplate exhibit a blue finish, with the bbl. exhibiting a plum colored appearance. Lever and finger curl trigger guard are case colored hardened. 1-piece plain wood straight grip buttstock with schnabel tip forearm and groove on right side for aforementioned lever. Octagonal bbl. with dovetailed German silver blade front sight and dovetailed V-notch rear sight. Action features double set triggers. CONDITION: bbl. retains large amounts of its original finish, showing areas of wear and thinning that are fading to gray patina, as well as scattered handling marks and spots of light surface oxidation. Breech and buttplate show areas of wear fading to gray patina with spots/areas of light to mild surface oxidation. Lever and trigger guard (in protected areas on trigger guard) retain fair amounts of their original fading case colored finish, with the balance exhibiting a gray patina. Underside of rotating breechblock exhibits a repaired crack, with a small crack present on the bbl. tang, slightly ahead of the forward tang screw. Very bright bore, exhibiting good to strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics, to include the set triggers. Stock shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. An attractive and intriguing faucet action parlor rifle. (01-28000/MLW). ANTIQUE. $300-500.
